Media Browser Custom Start Strip Extras Pack Updated

corbeille box sale v Hack7MC’s custom Media Browser start menu strip is one of the most downloaded items we’ve made available. Suspiciously the extras package isn’t quite so popular. Perhaps your favorite plug-in wasn’t included? Anyway, now available for download is a slightly updated package. This new package still requires you to have the Custom Media Browser strip installed.

Here’s a quick run down of the plug-ins with registry files included in this pack:

  • Media Control
  • Music Browser
  • PlayIt
  • PowerDVD9
  • SecondRun.tv
  • TubeCore
  • TunerFreeMCE
  • TwitterMCE
  • My Trailers for MCE

Also included is a small registry file which you can edit to change the name of the custom strip. Simply open Rename Custom Strip.reg and change the Title=”” line to the title of your choice. Then apply the registry modification.

Included for each plug-in is a registry file for enabling and disabling that plug-in on the custom menu strip. There is a limit of five items per strip however, so choose your favorites carefully. Though you can enable and disable strip items at any point using the registry files in the pack.

custom strip extras

To get started just make sure you have the custom Media Browser strip installed and download the extras pack. Inside you’ll find a number of registry files. Just double-click and apply the modifications to enable or disable the plug-in named in the filename.

While it’s not quite as handy as having an application available to really customize your Media Center menus this should be able to tide you over somewhat. If there’s a plug-in you’d like to see added to the package leave a note below along with the entry point id if possible.

How about adding the Arcsoft Play BD link?

Then I could remove the whole Arcsoft strip entirely.

:)

I made one for “My Trailers for MCE” ( http://mcezone.com/products.php ) Let me know if you would like them sent, and to where.

The reg files don’t work with the new Media Browser 2.1. How can we fix that?

You should be able to just run the original custom reg file from this post marked Add MediaBrowser Strip and then you should be able to use these once again.

I’ve asked the Media Browser team to adjust their code through their forums but haven’t received any response at this point. It’s a simple fix, just a changing the Category string under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Media Center\Start Menu\Applications\{ce32c570-4bec-4aeb-ad1d-cf47b91de0b2} to “Media Browser”

There is one for TMT. I can see it on the strip. Thing is, TMT still wont launch BDs from hard drive within MCE even if you have set up 2.11 to use TMT as the external player. There’s a TMT public BETA available though. Trying it now.

Hmm, I’ll take a look at the packages but there is an alternative way to add icons by using MC Studio. Should be able to add icons to any start strip with that program.

Is there a similar solution for Vista applications or would I need to upgrade to Win7 before I could add program shortcuts to the MC start strip?
